Department Activities:

The Keçiören Municipality Department of Women and Family Services was established within the framework of Law No. 6284 on the Protection of the Family and the Prevention of Violence Against Women, with the aim of overcoming existing social inequalities, understanding the importance of social municipal services, enabling women to play a more active role in social life, and creating a stronger society by strengthening the family unit. The department conducts activities to improve the living standards of women, children, and other groups in need within the Keçiören district. It carries out field research to identify women’s issues and develops projects to address the identified problems. It implements the Provincial Action Plan for Combating Violence Against Women, organizes events during national and international weeks, supports other public institutions, and arranges panels, meetings, and activities in cooperation. It develops and implements projects in collaboration with universities, public institutions, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The department works in all areas related to women and family issues—including health, education, culture, employment, and social security—to promote women’s advancement and increase their participation in decision-making processes. It provides necessary support to women exposed to violence and their accompanying children through Women’s Shelters. Psychological and nutritional support is also offered through Family Therapy Centers, with expert psychologists and dietitians assisting citizens with mental and physical health issues.
