The park is named after Aliya IZZETBEGOVIC, the Bosnian statesman and the first president of independent Bosnia and Herzegovina, who passed away on 19 October 2003.

The park features:

  • A monument dedicated to those who lost their lives during the Bosnia-Herzegovina War, which lasted from 1 March 1992 to 14 December 1995

  • A statue of the lily, the national symbol of Bosnia, historically representing purity, integrity, spiritual strength, and revival, as reflected in the country’s flag
