DISASTER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

Mission

To proactively and effectively respond to disasters and emergencies that may occur at the national and international level with professional search and rescue teams and modern equipment; to build a disaster-resilient society through awareness-raising activities.

Vision

To increase the disaster awareness and consciousness of the people of Keçiören based on scientific data and innovative methods in order to reduce disaster risks; to develop effective, sustainable and participatory projects and to create a strong disaster culture in coordination with all stakeholders; to possess an effective intervention capacity with our strong and well-equipped team.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Disaster Management Department

• To ensure the functionality and continuity of the Disaster and Emergency Coordination Center in order to correctly manage crises and enable rapid intervention before, during, and after disasters that may occur in our district.

• To establish the "Keçiören Disaster Response Team" within the Municipality against disasters, and to carry out its training and equipment planning.

• To effectively carry out search and rescue services in disasters and emergencies occurring at the national and international level.

• To participate in trainings and drills to be held domestically and abroad.

• To carry out communication, gathering, loading, and deployment drills in order to ensure rapid arrival at the scene in disaster and emergency situations.

• To ensure the procurement of tools, equipment, and materials to be used during disaster trainings and disaster response, and to dispatch them to required points.

• To ensure cooperation and coordination with public and private institutions against disasters.

• To plan and conduct basic disaster awareness trainings for institutions, organizations, and individuals located within the boundaries of Keçiören district.

• To carry out awareness-raising activities related to disasters, and to prepare informational materials such as trainings, seminars, drills, brochures, etc.

• To ensure coordination as support solution partners for service groups according to the Türkiye Disaster Response Plan (TAMP).

• To conduct planning, project, implementation, research, examination, development, monitoring, and evaluation studies in cooperation with public institutions and organizations, as well as universities and other scientific institutions, regarding disaster hazards and risks.

• To carry out studies supporting the development of projects in order to benefit from grant and incentive programs.

• To prepare documents and reports related to activities.

• To research global disaster management practices, follow developments, evaluate conducted studies, develop innovative service, practice and project ideas, and share them with relevant units.
